President’s New Year Message for 2020
Welcome to 2020 ABOA Members!
It is going to be an exciting New Year, 2020 will see our Association continue to grow in how it serves you our members!
Our major project for this year is the implementation of Zoom video conferencing software. This software is allowing us to offer free webinars for this upcoming year. Membership Director Jeff Barnett has graciously volunteered to spearhead the arranging of these webinars over 2020. We will be starting with code update webinars that will be led by members from Edmonton and Calgary. Emails will be coming out to announce scheduling of these webinars, so watch for those to come early in 2020. These webinars are structured in format to last approximately 1 hour and participants will receive a certificate for their participation in the webinar. This will translate into 5 professional credits for every member present! Our target for 2020 is a minimum of 4 webinars over the year, so your professional development should come to all ABOA members, wherever you are, across the Province! Thanks also, to all of you who responded to our survey on what topics you would like to have webinars on...the participation was VERY high! The ABOA Board really appreciates this as it assists us seek content that matters to our members.
This year Fall ABOA Conference location has also been selected, and we are going to Medicine Hat, AB. Updates will be announced soon on the hotel and location. We want to extend a special thanks to the City of Medicine Hat for their assistance in facilitating planning for this years conference. ABOA is very proud to have such strong support!
As we work on planning the Fall ABOA Conference, I want to stress the importance to each of our ABOA members on how critical it is that you let us know now what subjects or questions you have that interest you. Your suggestions for content allow us to work to provide you with presentations that matter and we can seek practical tools to enable ABOA members to hone our craft and perform our duties at a higher level each year.
Thanks to all of our Bursary applicants this year and we are glad to have awarded three more bursaries for contributing to the future of our ABOA family.
